Underwater Sculptures by Jason deCaires Taylor

January 7th, 2012

Hombre en Llamas (Man on Fire)

Just came across the sculptures of Jason deCaires Taylor in the January National Geographic. This particular sculpture is located at a depth of 9m, Cancun / Isla Mujeres, Mexico. I love how the sculptures take on a life of their own continuing to evolve and change within the natural environment as sea life pass through or call it home.

The Fiction Project

June 6th, 2011

The Fiction Project, orchestrated by The Art House Co-op,invites everyone to tell illustrated stories. I signed up online to receive a blank moleskin, filled it with my story, mailed it back, and now it’s going on tour to Seattle (June 10-12), San Francisco, Chicago, and Winter Park. After travelling across the country, it will enter the Brooklyn Art Library’s narrative collection.

There are now 1,000 sketchbooks in the Digital Library! Explore here:

I’m waiting for my story book to be uploaded. It’s about Selina, a curious fish anthropologist who sets out to find a mysterious creature. But when she’s invited to a fashion show, she finds more than expected.

It is always a treat to pass by the Holt Renfrew in downtown Vancouver. I love the lobster and jellyfish. I think my nephew would be partial to the sea dragon.

Lewis Carroll – Saint George and the Dragon

Lewis Carroll (1832 – 1898) of Alice and Wonderland also took this amazing photograph summarizing Saint George and the Dragon in just one shot. I love the composition, costumes, and old feel of the film.
